care, social service, residential services, and administration. Key

Executive Biographies
Kim McGrory
Interim Executive Director
Kim McGrory has been with Calcutta House since 1996 and has dedicated
her professional life to serving those in the greatest need. As the
interim executive director Kim is ultimately responsible for the
supervision and oversight of all employees, expenditures, and emergency
requests in order to ensure the continuation and improvement of resident
rehabilitative services. Moved by the saying “life has purpose when you
serve others” she has worked tirelessly throughout her 11 year tenure at
Calcutta House to rise from a secretarial position (1996-1998) through
Administrative Assistant, Assistant to the Finance Office, Operations
Manager, Director of Operations, and Associate Director. She is a State
Certified Medication Administration Trainer, and serves as the State
Licensed Personal Care Home Administrator securing all required licenses
and overseeing necessary modifications to meet inspection standards. She
has also brought novel ideas to the branding & marketing committee, a
strategic planning initiative supported by the Board of Directors, to
develop and diversify our support base. Throughout her years of service
she has built close relationships with many residents-each resident
leaving an indelible mark on her life. She has also called upon her well
honed leadership skills from numerous African American community
positions to inspire staff and support residents. Kim is a graduate of
the Institute of Business Technology and holds a certificate in
non-profit management from LaSalle University.

Anita Chandler-May, RN, BSN
Director of Nursing
As a registered nurse with 25
years of experience, Anita has spent the last four years providing
nurturing care for the residents of Calcutta house. She was most
recently promoted to the Director of Nursing and, in this
role, will oversee nursing and home health aide services. Prior to
joining Calcutta House, Anita worked for two years with True Care Home
Health Services, assisting the impoverished in North Philadelphia with
home-based health care. She has also worked with Mercy Douglas
Rehabilitation Center as a supervisor of the Skilled Care Unit.

Susan Vanderburg
Director of Finance
Susan Vanderburg has been with
Calcutta House for two years and as the Director of Finance, she helps
the organization keep track of all of the financial aspects, including
grant and foundation funding. In addition, Susan handles all of the
financial statement and reporting requirements and makes sure that all
of bills are paid and that payment on invoices is received. Before
joining Calcutta House, Susan worked for six years at the John Heinz
Institute of Rehab as an accountant. Susan holds a BS in accounting from
Wilkes University.

Rita Keita, MSW
Director of Social Services
Rita began her employment at Calcutta House in 1999, as a
staff social worker. During that time, she earned her Masters in Social
Work from the University of Pennsylvania, and expanded her skills, knowledge
and experience in the field of addictions counseling. Rita has
been a valuable and key participant in our efforts to expand and direct our
social work services toward the changing and complex psychosocial needs of our
residents. She was promoted to the Director of the Social Work
department in the fall of 2005.

Bryan McGrory
Director of Building Services
In October of 2004,
Bryan
celebrated his six-year anniversary with Calcutta House. As Director of
Building Service, he manages all of the maintenance, custodial, and
transportation services for both of our facilities. Until his recent
promotion,
Bryan
served as Director of Volunteers, Activities, & Transportation,
responsible for coordinating recreational activities, resident
transportation, and the many volunteers that keep Calcutta House in
operation on a daily basis. Before coming to Calcutta House,
Bryan
worked with Project Home as a full time volunteer coordinator. He
graduated from
Penn
State
University
with a BS in Psychology.

Angela Scipio
Director of Nutrition Services
Angela joined the Calcutta staff as lead cook in
September 2003. Since then she was promoted to head chef and food
service manager, and is now the Director of Nutrition Services. An
inspirational speaker with a dynamic message about diet, health, and the
creative process, Angela who is diabetic diagnosed since 1995 teaches
classes at MALT, Hope Charter School and various churches, as well as
spearheading this year's Diabetes Expo Cooking Corner. She has given
food demonstrations for the Greater Philadelphia Food Bank, the NAACP's
"Steps to a Healthier Life," and was Executive Chef for the
Allegheny East Conference "Fit 4 You Lifestyle Camp" for 2006 and
2007. She uses her cooking skills and food knowledge to entice the
diabetic, non-diabetic and vegetarian eater. In addition, she
graduated from Moore College of Art & Design with a Bachelor of Fine
Arts in 1994, focusing on sculpture and photography. As Director of
Nutrition Services at Calcutta House, Angela oversees all kitchen staff and
functions,
menu and diet planning, food purchasing and preparation, and the special
nutrition needs and education of our residents.
