   We assist those who are homeless and diagnosed with full-blown AIDS to live their lives to the fullest, by providing housing and highly supportive care to adult men and women in Philadelphia.

 Sapphire Fund Beneficiary (2008), Mayoral Proclamation of Calcutta House Day as May 18th (2007), U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development Special Projects of National Significance (2006), Glaxo-Smith-Kline Community Impact Award (2005), and Citizens Bank & NBC 10 Community Champion (2004, 1999).

Calcutta House Named Beneficiary
of Sapphire Fund


     Calcutta House has been selected as one of four beneficiaries of the Sapphire Fund, a  non-profit, community based group championing the multi-faceted needsof Philadelphia's lesbian, gay, transgender, transsexual and queer community.

     The Sapphire Fund supplies resources to local organizations - which this year include Calcutta House, The William Way Community Center, GALAEI, and Mountain Meadow  - providing HIV/AIDS research, education, prevention and treatment as well as promoting the overall health and well-being of the community through education, events, and advocacy.They have returned more than $210,000 to our community since their inception in 2002.

     Proceeds from Sapphire Fund events held between January and May 2008 will be distributed to the four beneficiaries, including Calcutta House at a check presentation in June 2008.
